Hello everyone, this is what is planned for the second meeting in January,
Jan 26th:


Dr. Laura Myers from Mississippi State University, a resident of
Birmingham, and Ms. Ashley Loftin are conducting a project funded by the US
Department of Homeland Security to support regional emergency planning. Dr.
Myers and Ms. Loftin work with emergency planning networks to support their
efforts in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. The project
shares information between public and private emergency planning
stakeholders and supports their efforts to partner for more efficient and
effective regional response efforts. On January 26th, Ms. Ashley Loftin
will present to ham operators an overview of how the regional emergency
planning networks function and how the project supports their efforts. Ham
operators are part of these planning networks. Ms. Loftin will discuss how
ham operators have been involved and integrated in planning networks in NC,
SC, GA, AL, and MS. Ms. Loftin will open a discussion with the ham
operators of the Shelby County Amateur Radio Club to learn how they operate
as part of the local and regional networks in the Birmingham area and to
address any questions or concerns they may have about the emergency
planning network they are part of. Ms. Loftin will ask the Club if there is
anything the project can do to support their efforts and goals.
